Female student commits suicide after not being allowed to sit in exams

According to details, Saqiba Kakar along with dozens students was not allowed to sit in their intermediate examinations by the Principal of Government Girls Degree College Abida Ghous for staging a demonstration demanding resumption of their classes.

The suspended students, protesting at Quetta Press Club, had claimed that the principal cancelled the classes as there were no female teachers.

The students claimed that they had informed the head of the educational facility of having no issues in being taught by male teachers.

In an interview to a local news channel, Saqiba said that around a hundred girls were not receiving education just because of one woman – she referred to the principal – and their future was at stake.

She had also complained that they sat on roads in protest, but no official took any action, adding that the 10th of February was the deadline for submitting the examination form.

“My sister repeatedly requested the principal and college administration to send her examination form, but the principal refused on the ground that she did not have the required attendance for appearing in the exams,” he added.

Saqiba’s brother Aizazullah stated all students were forgiven several months ago after apologizing to the administration except for her sister after which she gave away her own life.

He also said that February 10th was the last date to submit the exam form.

CM Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri taking notice of the incident has ordered an inquiry.
