MULTAN: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested the prime suspect involved in leaking medical entrance examination papers while he was trying to flee the country from Multan International Airport .

The suspect has been identified Rao Bilal – an employee of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) – who was attempting to flee the country to evade an arrest via a private airline flight.

According to FIA officials, Bilal has been shifted to Lahore for an initial investigation.

The accused who has been identified as Rao Bilal, taken into custody by FIA from Multan airport.

His arrest was made after the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday discarded the results of Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2017, ruling in favour of the petitioners and directing the authorities to re-conduct the admission test.

The court was hearing a petition filed by a group of medical students who adopted a stance that one of the examination papers was leaked purposefully, impairing admissions of medical students on the merit basis.

The students – in the petition – pointed out that the leaked examination paper has benefitted the unqualified students while taking away the opportunities from eligible aspirants; hence the entry-tests’ results should be declared null and void.

A report compiled by the Punjab government on the matter was also submitted to the court.

According to the investigation report into the matter, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) employees were involved in releasing the examination paper before the scheduled entry-test time.

In light of report’s revelations, the court also directed authorities concerned to take stern action against those involved in entry-test papers leak.

“No body is allowed to harm the future of deserving students,” Justice Shahid Waheed of the LHC remarked.

Earlier, the court had barred the university from releasing result of admission tests.
