HAFIZABAD: Fire engulfed four shops of Shaheen Market in Hafizabad district of Punjab on Saturday morning, ARY News reported.
According to an official of the fire department, the fire broke out in a shop, which soon engulfed the surrounding shops in the market.
On being informed of the fire, fire engines rushed to the site and began operation to douse the blaze, he said and added that four fire engines took part in the firefighting operation.
As per initial investigations an electric short-circuit caused the fire, local police said adding that there were no reports of casualties as a result of the incident.
The fire incidents have become frequent as five of such incidents have occurred in less than ten days in the country.
Earlier on Sept 27, a fire destroyed a garment factory in New Karachi area of the city, which was doused after hectic efforts by the firefighters, lasting for three hours.
According to rescue sources, the fire had erupted at the industrial unit located near Nalla Stop in New Karachi Industrial Area, reducing the material inside the building to ashes. No casualty was reported in the blaze.
Last Sunday, a blaze had erupted in a cardboard factory located near Shafeeq roundabout in North Karachi, which was brought under control by the firefighters with an effort that was continued for eleven hours.
