First Total Lunar Eclipse of 2026 Observed Across World including Pakistan

LAHORE: The first total lunar eclipse of 2026 concluded on Tuesday night after being observed across the world, including Pakistan, ARY News reported.
In Pakistan, the penumbral eclipse began at 1:44 pm, while the partial eclipse became visible at 2:50 pm. The total eclipse officially commenced at 4:05 pm, with the moon being completely submerged in the Earth’s shadow by 4:34 pm.
The celestial event began to recede at 5:03 pm, and the partial phase concluded at 6:17 pm. Finally, the entire eclipse ended at 7:23 pm.
While the full duration occurred during daylight hours for some, the eclipse was still partially observed across several cities in Pakistan as the moon rose.
During a total lunar eclipse, the Earth comes between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow that gives the moon its characteristic red appearance, often called a ‘Blood Moon’ by observers.
NASA has highlighted other significant celestial events occurring in March. According to sources, a conjunction of Venus and Saturn is expected on March 8. This alignment will allow viewers to observe the two planets appearing close together in the night sky.
Furthermore, the vernal equinox is scheduled for March 20, marking a key point in the astronomical calendar. The equinox signifies the moment when day and night are approximately equal in length, signaling the transition from winter to spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
