ISLAMABAD: The fish exports showed hike of about 16.33% during the initial period of fiscal year (2017-18) comparatively to that of last year.
The data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) revealed that, Pakistani seafood that is sold abroad costs around $423.996 million for the month of July to May (2017-18) in comparison to July-May (2016-17) when it was $364.481 million.
The trade of fish exports has showed a tremendous rise from 143,313 metric tons to 178,906 metric tons in the period of 2017-2018. Pakistan has over all improvised the rising exports of sea food related products, showing an increase by almost 30.08%.
According to data, it is revealed that the cost of food imports were $3,425 million, compare to the food exports of $4,479 million in the earlier eleven months of the current fiscal year.
On yearly basis, fish exports from Pakistan has augmented by 9.2% through the month of May 2018 as of last year’s May. Whereas, the monthly basis showed negative trend by 6.31% during May 2018, and exports worth $55.960 million.
