MULTAN: Police on Wednesday arrested five students and recovered a professor of Bahauddin Zakariya University who was made hostage by them in Multan, ARY News reported.
Police rounded up the suspects with the help of surveillance camera footage and seized weapons from their possession.
According to details, in the eyebrow-raising incident, a group of students belonging to the student wing of a political party, the PSF, kidnapped Professor Wasif Noman Ansari allegedly for giving them poor marks in examinations.
ARY News correspondent Tahir Khan said Wasif Noman was abducted while he was on his way back to home from the university.
He said three of the culprits were arrested upon recognition of their vehicles. Acting upon the information received from them during interrogation, the professor was recovered from a house near the university and two more accomplices of the suspected criminals were arrested, he added.
Tahir Khan told that the students were members of the Peoples Student Federation (PSF) and they had some personal issue with the victim, a claim that could not be verified by the university.
“Some students said they had issue on markings in exams, while the others said they had issue on the syllabus,” he said.
