Around 100 villages in Multan have been evacuated by the authorities due to fears of flooding. These areas included Band Bosan, Nawabpur, Head Mohammadwala, Basti Garewal, Basti Langrial and Shershah.

The government of Sindh had recently announced to evacuate 8,00,000 people from the areas vulnerable to flood ravages in the province. The authorities have started evacuation of the villagers from the vulnerable areas.
In Khairpur, the home district of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, red alert has been declared in the Katcha area along the path of river Indus.
The local population, however, concerned over the precautionary measures being taken by the government with complaints about absence of any flood relief camp in the district.
The authorities concerned have started strengthening of the vulnerable parts of the protective dykes along the river.
Army Relief
The army troops along with helicopters and boats yesterday reached Panjnad Headworks where a threat is looming to residents of 35 villages situated on banks of rivers Chenab and Sutlej.
Over 600,000 to 700,000 cusecs of floodwater is expected to pass through the headworks during the next two to three days.
According to a statement of the ISPR, about 300 troops along with 30 boats, life jackets and other rescue gadgets have been dispatched from the Bahawalpur Cantonment to Panjnad where they have reportedly begun the evacuation and rescue work.
The army has also been deployed at Uch Sharif, Chahran Sharif, Bhong and Acha Bangla of the Rahim Yar Khan district whose residents are facing a serious flood threat.
The troops began the rescue operation around the Panjnad Headworks, about 85kms from Bahawalpur, and evacuated around 2,500 people on Wednesday.
