ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Foreign Minister (FM) Jalil Abbas Jilani will represent Pakistan at the meeting of Council of Heads of Government Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) today (Thursday).
According to a statement, Pakistan will assume the Chair of Council of Heads of Government Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Bishkek.
The meeting will be attended by the Heads of Government of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, vice-president of Iran and foreign ministers of Pakistan and India.
SCO Observer States namely Belarus and Mongolia as well as Guest State Turkmenistan will also attend the meeting.
Council of Heads of Government is the second highest forum in SCO. It focuses primarily on the areas of economy, finance, commerce, and socio-economic cooperation.
On the sidelines of the meeting, FM Jalil Abbas Jilani also called on President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov today. Both countries expressed a mutual desire to build stronger economic, political, and educational relations.
The Kyrgyz President said Kyrgyzstan is interested in developing cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats.
He emphasised great opportunities for increasing the volume of mutual trade between the countries.
The foreign minister also had meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart wherein two sides agreed on a mechanism to enhance the bilateral political, economic, and connectivity relationship.
