LAHORE: Days after Zaeem Qadri parted ways, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) faced further internal rifts as another prominent leader lashed at party leadership.
Former Punjab minister Abdul Gafoor Khan Meo said that the PML-N has destroyed institution, and vowed to expose Hamza Shehbaz in the his own constituency.
Addressing a press conference, he alleged that every member of the Sharif family had a connection with former president Musharraf, and he will expose those who had meetings with Musharraf.
Denying that he had intention to leave the party, Meo vowed that he would expose the corrupt elements within the party. He questioned how leaders like Daniyal Aziz and Marvi Memon gained prominence in such a short span of time.
Meo decried that irregularities in issuing tickets even the 2013 elections. He vowed to serve the country and support its institutions for the rest of his life, and said he can never stand besides any leader who attempts to weaken national institutions.
‘Zaeem Qadri said Lahore is not the property of anyone. I’m saying that Pakistan doesn’t belong to anyone except its people,” he exclaimed, referring to the PML-N leader who lashed at Hamza Shebaz last week.
Meo said that PML-N was sending corrupt individuals and those involved in land grabbing in the parliament, and there was a need to stop those forming friendship with Modi. “We need to stop those forming friendship with Modi. A friend of Modi was once our prime minister as well,” he said taking a direct jibe at deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said that he has not applied for a PML-N this time around, but would like to question the party over the sale and distribution of party tickets.
PML-N losing credence in Punjab: PTI spokesman
In response, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said that Meo was close aide of Nawaz Sharif, and the roots of the party are being weakened in Punjab.
He said that the real face of the PML-N leadership was being exposed, and workers were deserting the party. He said that PTI had more competition with independent candidates than the PML-N, which was even losing credence in Punjab.
