Gas blast in Abbottabad hotel, leaves woman dead, 25 injured

Loud explosion in Lalazar hotel near Ayub Medical College in Abbottabad was heard in far flung areas of the city.

According to reports, the gas for heating the hotel room in the cold weather, was the cause of the huge explosion that left a woman dead and injured 25 persons.

The blast shattered the walls of the building and glasses in the nearby buildings.

District Police Officer Sher Akbar Khan and a contingent of local police reached to the spot and transferred the injured to nearby Ayub Medical Complex for medical attendance.

An injured woman succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Four other injured were said to be in a precarious condition.

The hospital authorities have declared emergency to meet the situation.
