Lahore: A 25-year-old girl was injured on Wednesday after jumping from the fourth floor of Jinnah Hospital in Lahore, police said.
According to officials, the woman, identified as Ayesha and a resident of Abbottabad, was admitted to Medical Unit-II of the hospital for treatment.
She sustained injuries and was immediately shifted to the surgical emergency ward. Doctors said she is now out of danger.
Police stated that the woman was suffering from mental health issues. SSP Operations Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem said the incident occurred when her brother had briefly left the ward to bring food, during which she went to the rooftop and jumped.
Legal proceedings into the incident have been initiated, police added.
The case marks the third recent incident involving young people jumping from buildings in Lahore, raising concerns among parents and citizens over increasing levels of depression and anxiety among Generation Z.
Last month, a female student attempted suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of a private university in the provincial capital. The student, identified as Fatima, a first-semester pharmacy student, was rushed to the ICU of a private hospital affiliated with the university. Sources said she jumped from the same spot where another student had previously attempted suicide.
In December 2025, a student named Owais Sultan died after jumping from the fourth floor of the same building.
Following the earlier incidents, the University of Lahore constituted an eight-member inquiry committee headed by retired Dean of the Faculty of Law, Muhammad Bilal Khan, to investigate the matter.
