Govt planning to introduce whistleblowing laws in Pakistan: PM’s adviser

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to PM on Establishment Mohammad Shehzad Arbab, along with Mirza Shahzad Akbar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability  on Wednesday co-chaired a special meeting to launch an anti-corruption drive in line with vision of PM Imran Khan, ARY News reported.

According to details, Mohammad Shehzad Arbab reiterated to adopt immediate measures to root out corruption from public sector institutions which is a key to improve public service delivery.

He further directed that the heads of ministries and departments to immediately remove corrupt elements from their respective ministries and departments.

Arbab asked the representatives of various departments to formulate a comprehensive mechanism by which general public may submit their grievance against corrupt officials.

Mohammad Shehzad Arbab also apprised the participants that the government is also working to introduce whistleblowing laws in Pakistan.

Mirza Shahzad Akbar asked the representatives to bring their short term and long term plans of their respective department to curb corruption in their departments.

It is pertinent to note here that eliminating corruption and protecting officers who expose corruption has been one of the foremost election pledges of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

PM Imran Khan has time and again termed corruption as the biggest issue Pakistan is facing and has vowed to bring all government officers and politicians involved in looting taxpayers’ money to book.
