Hanif Mohammad’s son Shoaib Mohammad finally confirmed that his father had lost the battle of life. The legendary Pakistani batsman even knocked death away for once, as earlier his heartbeat was restored by the doctors after six-minutes of efforts, while the media had reported the demise of Little Master.

Muhammad’s son Shoaib Muhammad, who also played in Pakistan’s national cricket team as opening batsman, had initially informed the media that the doctors in the hospital after six minutes’ efforts revived the heartbeat of the ailing cricketer.

Hanif Muhammad was diagnosed with lung cancer almost three years back and underwent a surgery in London.

Muhammad was a lead star of the Pakistani cricket history. During his heydays, he was considered one of the best batsmen in the world cricket. He played the longest innings in Test cricket.

He was born in Junagarh, India on 21 December 1934. Hanif’s highest runs in Test centuries was a famous 337 against West Indies in a six-day test at Bridgetown in 1957/58. He spent over 16 hours at the crease amassing his runs, pushing Pakistan to draw the game.

He is known to have played the slowest test innings with 20 runs off 223 balls. His career lasted until 1976.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of legendary cricketer Hanif Muhammad.
