Hazara community ends protest after Afridi assures them justice

QUETTA: Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi on Monday met Hazara community protesters in Quetta and assured them redressal of their grievances, ARY News reported.

The minister also expressed solidarity with bereaved families of 20 martyrs, who had lost their lives in Hazarganji blast on April 13.

Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal was also along with the minister during visit to the protesters camp. Speaking on the occasion, Kamal said the government would not heave a sigh of relief until terrorists were rooted out from the country.

He said effects of a terror attack hit every household, adding that the government was working to tackle the menace of terrorism.

“Our government is in place because of the people. We will take every possible step for welfare of the people of Balochistan.”

Shehryar Afridi said attempts were being made to spread anarchy in the country and there is no doubt that the Hazara community had been subjected to barbarism. He said the government would was standing by them.

Afridi assured protesters that government would go to any extent to take elements involved in terrorism to their logical conclusion.

He added that our enemy’s agenda is to create instability in the country.

After assurance from the minister, the Hazara community demonstrators ended their protest.

At least 20 people were killed and several others injured on Friday in a blast at Quetta’s Hazarganji sabzi mandi.
