Amid rising inflation and economic difficulties, a growing number of young Pakistanis are pursuing education and employment opportunities abroad.

During ARY News’ morning show Bakhabar Savera, Director General of the Bureau of Overseas Employment, Muhammad Tayyab Chaudhry, provided details about the legal procedures and regulations for working overseas.

He said that the Bureau’s primary aim is to assist and guide youth seeking opportunities abroad. Explaining the process, he stated that applicants must fulfil the basic requirements and legal conditions of their intended destination country.

“The application procedure is simple,” he said, adding, “Once suitable employment is arranged, we ensure applicants can proceed abroad within one to two months.”

Tayyab Chaudhry highlighted that numerous job opportunities exist overseas. However, he stressed the importance of acquiring quality education, enhancing skills, and undertaking relevant professional courses to increase employability.

He further cautioned against unlicensed agents, noting that the Bureau has 2,700 licensed agents nationwide. Prospective job seekers are advised to contact only authorized agents or reach out via the official Bureau of Overseas Employment website.

The trend of young Pakistanis seeking opportunities abroad is evident at passport offices and immigration centers, where long queues for passports and visas have become routine. Many are also trying to secure scholarships for studying abroad.

While some see this mass migration of skilled individuals as a brain drain, others view it as a positive sign, predicting increased remittances to bolster the national economy.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to align overseas job market strategies with the demands of friendly countries. He further announced the Uraan Pakistan initiative to create new employment opportunities across the nation.
