Hostile forces using social media to pollute young minds, says Army Chief

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday said that Operation Radd-ul-Fassad has defeated terrorism and usher the country on a new phase of development.

Addressing the seminar titled, ‘Role of Youth in Rejecting Extremism’ General Bawja underlined that it is our collective duty as a state and individual to protect our youth against the threat of their involving in extremism.

This has become increasingly important in view of the changing nature and character of the conflict and the ideology of hostile forces shifting their focus on the minds of our youth, he said, adding, “These forces are using social networking sites to pollute young minds.”

The army chief said that Operation Radd-ul-Fassad is aimed at consolidating the gains made during the military operations concluded of late and to bring about an enduring peace and stability in the country. He added that one of its objective is to eliminate extremism from our society.

General Bajwa maintained that the armed forces owe their achievements in the ongoing operations to the youth as 90 percent of scarifies were rendered by the young officers and soldiers of the armed forces.

Gen. Bajwa said that the state and people have to fight jointly against terrorism.
