I didn't compromise to work in Bollywood films like other actresses: Zara Sheikh

She further said that doing films was her passion and this was evident from the fact that she had stuck around at a time when the Lollywood film industry was going through a rough patch. She said that when the film industry was going through a bad phase, most actors and actresses (except her) had switched over to television.

Zara also said that at first television artists did not consider well those belonging to the film industry. However, now every other artist aspires to act in movies.She disclosed that during that time period, Zara was offered remuneration according to her wish however, she knew that one day the local film industry would revive hence she chose not to star in television dramas.

Zahra also made it clear that according to her, there was no competition between film and television. Despite so many TV channels and dramas, people were flocking to cinemas to catch a glimpse of their favourite superstars in movies.

She said that had cinema owners cooperated, Devdas, which was released with the name Ishq Ne Ham Ko Loota, would have performed well at the box office. Zara also said that neither did she want to work in Bollywood nor had she ever tried to. She just did one film, titled Honour Killing which was entirely shot in United Kingdom.

There are Pakistani actresses in India, who have scooped up Bollywood projects. Among them include Mawra Hocane, Humaima Malick, Mahira Khan and Sara Loren. Will Zara Sheikh’s comments induce a response from any such actress?
