Ibad played key role in defusing Govt-Qadri tension

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ibad said he played mediatory role in clearing the air between the government and Dr. Tahirul Qadri over the latter’s arrival to Pakistan, ARY News reported.

Speaking to ARY News, Ibad said he appealed Dr. Qadri on telephone to cooperate with governor Punjab.

Dr. Qadri had refused to disembark from a flight when it was diverted from Islamabad to Lahore over ‘security’ concerns. The PAT chief had mooted six demands including withdrawal of cases against his workers, restoring his party secretariat in Lahore to old position and accompanying of governor Punjab on his return from the airport, before he called off his protest.

Governor Sindh termed Dr. Qadri’s demand for calling in army as inappropriate. He told that MQM chief Altaf Hussain was closely monitoring the entire situation, “and he asked me to play role for defusing tension between the two sides,” Ibad added.
