Assassin Naveed alias Commando was given death sentence for killing Asghar Ali aka Bhola Gujjar and his driver on January 8.
Naveed had recorded his statement to police, claiming that Rana Sanaullah told him Gujjar had gained much clout and could challenge his position by joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

He said he approached Gujjar and spotted his vehicle near Seeta Ram temple and opened fire on him, thus resulting his death. ‘Commando’ said he carried out the killing as the minister had assured him of protection.
He said Sanaullah had given him an iPhone set and through Viber “I informed the minister about killing of Gujjar and he applauded me.”
IGP comes to minister’s “rescue”
On Thursday, Inspector General Police Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera has said the statement of convicted assassin Naveed holds no importance, as he had not given any such statement before the investigation team.
The IGP said Naveed had given his statement before the joint investigation team and a report had been prepared.
He claimed that police was not providing any shelter to minister Rana Sanaullah.
