IHC summons DRAP CEO in deputy director’s appointment case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday summoned chief executive officer of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) in a case pertaining to appointment of a lady on the post of deputy director DRAP, ARY News reported.

The hearing was conducted by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah. He asked the lawyer of DRAP whether the new lady had taken the charge.

“She hasn’t yet resigned from the Services Hospital,” responded the lawyer.

The court asked the counsel whether many other people had joined the DRAP during the same period.

Deputy director DRAP responded to the query and said he had currently no idea about recent recruitments in the authority.

“You must be aware of it, hence you should not misguide the court,” the chief justice IHC said.

He said the CEO DRAP must come to the court and respond here. The hearing was adjourned till March 26.

On March 11, the IHC had suspended a notification with regard to removal of DRAP Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Akhtar Hussain.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan directed the petitioner to resume his duty and issued notices to the official respondents, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of National Health Services, DRAP, the Establishment Division and others to submit their replies to the petition.
