'Every govt leaves behind two things - an empty treasury and Fazlur Rehman'

BUNER: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said that every government leaves behind two things, an empty treasury and Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Addressing a campaign rally in Buner, the PTI chief said that convicted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter are returning to their country on Friday and are calling on their activists to receive them at Lahore airport.

“Nawaz Sharif has won the world cup of corruption. He was ousted for corruption, and now he is saying to give him a grand reception,” he said.

“Every government leaves behind two things – an empty treasury and Fazlur Rehman.”

Imran also criticised Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, who he said told him to prove corruption charges against them, and asked why he is called “easy load.”

Imran said that he struggled for over decades to make people realise that corruption is the biggest issue facing the nation, and now the country is indebted in foreign loans than ever before.

“Where is the nation standing due to corruption rulers? If my workers didn’t support me I wouldn’t even be here today.”

He alleged that Nawaz Sharif looted national wealth and was involved in money laundering, and was unable to given any evidence when asked by the court. Furthermore, former finance minister Ishaq Dar, when asked to prove his wealth, said his sons living in Dubai are billionaires.

“Asif Zaradari along with Nawaz Sharif was also involved in money laundering,” he said adding that he had already stated that it was Zardari’s turn next to face accountability.

The criteria for corruption is to send your son abroad and keeping sending money to him, he said. “Ishaq Dar was the front man of the Sharif family.”

He said that the covert deal between Nawaz Sharif and Zardari depreciated the value to the rupee which led to rising prices and increased foreign debts. “The country can flourish if we bring both their wealth back to the country.”

He urged the people to vote for an ideology rather that kinship, brotherhood and fraternity, and that there can be no change as long people to not desire to change their lives.

He said that even the Jamaat-e-Islami had lodged a case against Nawaz Sharif, and still the PML-N was considering forming an alliance with them.
