Infuriated Pakistani celebrities turned to social media to express their anger at the arrest of former Prime Minister and chairman PTI Imran Khan.
The PTI chief was taken into custody by Rangers personnel, who were acting on the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) warrant, from the premises of Islamabad High Court where the former premier had gone to seek bail in multiple cases registered against him.

Following the unfortunate turn of events, a number of showbiz celebrities turned to their social media handles to extend support to Khan. Reacting to the news, actor and husband of Minal Khan, Ahsan Mohsin Ikram said, “Red line has been crossed.”

Actors Maya Ali and Mariam Mirza termed it a ‘black day for Pakistan’ as the former took to her Instagram stories and wrote, “This is ridiculous to see our kaptaan our one and only Prime Minister in their hands like this. Aur kitna giro ge (How far will you fall)?”
Singer and an ardent PTI supporter, Annie Khalid also reacted to the news in a series of tweets yesterday. “May Allah break the backs of these oppressors,” she wrote on the micro-blogging site.
“Please get out of your homes guys. He’s in jail FOR US. His entire career of political struggle comes down to today. He’s telling us to fight for our constitutional rights, please GET OUT THERE AND PROTEST,” the singer urged.
‘Disgusted’ by the poor state of affairs in the country, actor Armeena Rana Khan noted, “Dozens in riot gear arresting a 70 year old who can barely walk. For shame! was this necessary? He said he was ready to go to jail if need be peacefully.”
Prominent actor Adnan Siddiqui also echoed the same and wrote, “Shameful and shocking to see a former PM being dragged like a petty criminal. Never in the history of our country were such scenes witnessed. Power has surely gone to the ruling dispensation’s head.”

In his series of tweets a day earlier, actor Gohar Rasheed mentioned that ‘arresting Imran Khan won’t do any good’ and would instead ‘instigate a civil war’.
Actor Saba Qamar reiterated that Pakistan is ‘no longer habitable’ while singer Quratulain Balouch believed it is no more a ‘democratic’ country. Other celebrities including actor-host Anoushey Ashraf, singer Hasan Raheem, and model Zara Peerzada were among others who reacted strongly to the matter.
