Missing Indian boy found at Facebook friend's house in Sheikhupura

SHEIKHUPURA: Indian boy Amarjit Singh, 24, who mysteriously disappeared in Pakistan and sent the Indian law enforcement into a frenzy was actually enjoying the hospitality of his Facebook friend.

According to reports, Amarjit Singh had befriended Sheikhupura resident Ameer Razak on Facebook. After reaching Pakistan on April 12, Amarjit called Razak who in return invited him to stay at his place.

It has been reported that Amarjit lied to Razak that he had a three-month visa when in actual his visa expiry date was April 21.

Amarjit spent three days at Razak’s house comfortably enjoying family’s hospitality when Razak read news about Amarjit’s disappearance on social media and alerted Pakistan Evacuee Trust Property Board officials who took Amarjit in their custody.

Amarjit Singh a resident of Niranjanpura village near Amritsar, had arrived Pakistan along with Sikh jatha on April 12 to celebrate Baisakhi. However, he didn’t return along with Sikh jatha on April 12 which led to speculations that he could have been radicalized by Sikh radicals or he might have some female friend in Pakistan.

Following the case of an Indian woman who came to Pakistan, married a Pakistani and is now appealing for a Pakistani visa, the ETPB has begun keeping a strict record of every Indian pilgrim.
