Forces “moved in cautiously” on Saturday and killed the two separatists in the Samba sector, some 350 kilometres (217 miles) from the region’s main city of Srinagar, army sources told AFP.
Several separatist groups have been fighting Indian forces since 1989 for merger of the territory with Pakistan.
The fighting has left tens of thousands dead, mostly civilians. Armed encounters between separatists and government forces occur regularly.
