PHC censures appointment of ‘ineligible person’ on key post of KP education sector

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday took a potshot at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for appointing an ‘ineligible person’ on the post of managing director of education sector, ARY News reported.

PHC Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan remarked this while hearing a case about ghost schools in the province.

Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Education Zia Ullah Khan Bangash said the government had launched a campaign to bring back out of school children. He said the managing director appointed for this purpose failed to come up to the expectations.

Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan asked about eligibility of the MD. Upon which, the advisor to CM KP said he had done bachelor’s. The justice asked how the government could appoint a BA pass on such an important post.

Elementary and Secondary Education Secretary Arshad Khan said monthly salary of the managing director was Rs0.5 million.

“Was there no qualified person left who could be appointed on this post,” the court asked.
The high court directed to make the campaign of bringing out of school children back productive.

Directed the advisor to present him a report in the next hearing, Qaiser Rashid said the government should ensure provision of education to the children.
