Islamabad metro bus project: PM Shehbaz Sharif orders probe into delay

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has regretted delay of four years in completion of Peshawar Morr to New Islamabad International Airport Metro Bus project and ordered an inquiry to probe the delay, ARY NEWS reported.

The prime minister visited the Metro Bus Service in Islamabad on Thursday morning where he was briefed by the CDA and NHA officials about the project.


Shehbaz Sharif directed to constitute a committee for inquiry into the delay and said that Rs16 billion had already been spent on the project.

“he metro bus service should have the facility for the passengers to carry luggage,” he said and further directed to establish a metro bus station on the motorway.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister was briefed that the metro bus service is immediately being commenced from Saturday after taking fifteen buses from Punjab Metro Bus Authority. He was further informed that buses for this project will reach by May 5.

Two days back, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced to run Metro Bus service from Islamabad-Peshawar Morr to the airport in five days.

According to details, PM Shehbaz Sharif has directed to complete the arrangements for running the metro bus, which will be a big relief to the people coming to Islamabad airport.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that arrangements should be made to run the Metro Bus service in 5 days. The premier issued instructions to Capital Development Authority, Ministry of Interior Affairs and National Highway Authority in this context.
