ISPR clarifies against fake social media accounts of army officers

RAWALPINDI: The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday clarified against the presence of fake accounts of army officers on social media sites.

According to a statement by the military’s press wing, neither does the Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) nor any officer of the Pakistan army maintains an official account on any social media platform.

It further said that there is only one official account by army spokesman DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor. Therefore, it said that all such accounts should be treated as fake.

“Neither DG ISI nor any other officer of Pakistan Army maintains an official account on any social media platform. The official accounts are of spokesperson only ie DG ISPR. Request treat all accounts such as the one attached here as fake,” said a statement on social media site Twitter.

Earlier a fake account was created in the name of newly appointed DG ISI Lt. General Asim Munir which has now been removed.
