James Gunn opens up on Harley Quinn’s future in DC

Hollywood director James Gunn confirmed that character Harley Quinn will appear in future live-adaptations of DC Extended Universe.

The Suicide Squad director made the announcement on the 30th celebration of Harley Quinn’s debut in Batman: The Animated Series. He said he loves wiring and ddirecting stories for the beloved character.

“Harley Quinn debuted 30 years ago today – September 11, 1992 – on Batman: The Animated Series,” he tweeted. “Thanks to Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for creating this wonderful character I find an absolute joy to write, direct, & create stories for.”

A curious fan asked him if the character will be seen in future projects. He replied with “Yes”. The fans of Harley Quinn were concerned given the complicated situation DCEU is in.

Actor Margot Robbie portrayed the live version of Harley Quinn. Her character was first seen in Suicide Squad. Her first collaboration with James Gunn was in its sequel The Suicide Squad.

The film also starred John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquín Cosío, Joel Kinnaman, Maylin Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Deigo Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Brage, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, and Idris Elba.

Harley Quinn had a standalone film named Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
