Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) Ishaq Khakwani appeared before the three-member commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk.
The Commission had summoned 14 witnesses today to record their testimonies.
The Commission has summoned the former chief secretary and the officials of the Punjab election commission tomorrow.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) counsel Shahid Hamid raised the issue of the documents and the affidavit of PTI’s Ishaq Khakwani. The Chief Justice in his remarks said that the political can question the witnesses appearing in the hearing of the commission. The witnesses will not be summoned again, he further said.
Justice Nasirul Mulk clarified to the parties that the Judicial Commission will record testimonies in the first phase.
PTI’s counsel Hafeez Pirzada argued in the hearing that the man who will submit documents will not be among the witnesses.
Salman Akram Raja, the counsel of the election commission contended that the persons who will authenticate the documents will be a witness.
Hashmat Habib, the counsel of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said that a list of witnesses has been submitted to the Commission.
Chief Justice in his remarks said that the commission will see who will be a witness in the hearing.
The Judicial Commission had summoned 14 witnesses named in the list provided by the PTI.
The decision to record and examine evidence under oath to bring appropriate documents from the list of witnesses was reached during a meeting held on April 29 between the judicial commission and the counsels representing different political parties.
