Julia Fox’s Halloween costume has ignited controversy online, as it represents a deeply emotional moment in American history.
The Uncut Gems actress donned a pink suit reminiscent of the one worn by Jackie Kennedy on the day of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. At the time, the First Lady’s outfit was filled with blood as she stood by her wounded husband and later refused to change the outfit, even after being encouraged to do so.
In defence of her costume choice, Fox addressed the backlash in a lengthy Instagram post, stating, “Her decision not to change clothes, even after being encouraged to, was an act of extraordinary bravery. It was performance, protest and mourning, all at once. A woman weaponising image and grace to expose brutality. It’s about trauma, power and how family itself is a form of resistance”, referring to Jackie Kennedy.
However, the controversial outfit has drawn sharp criticism from the late First Lady’s grandson, Jack Schlosberg. He expressed his disdain on X, stating, “Julia Fox glorifying political violence is disgusting, desperate and dangerous. I’m sure her late grandmother would agree”.
Many citizens have voiced their anger, deeming Fox’s costume insensitive and in poor condition.
