WATCH: This is how Maulana Tariq Jameel paid tribute to Junaid Jamshed

“A great Muslim, a man who forgave all… everyone ” 

These were the words of Maulana Tariq Jameel of Tableegi Jamaat for Junaid Jamshed, the singer-turned-preacher who lost his life in the Wednesday crash of a PIA jet.

Jameel- who is considered one of the mentors of Jamshaid when the latter abandoned making music and devoted his life to religious preaching- said that Junaid Jamshed was a man of character. “He had such great virtues… I have seen him for years”.

Two times Junaid cried before Maulana

Reminiscing the days he spent with the singer-turned-preacher, Jameel talked about at least two instances when Jamshed cried.

First one occurred during the Raiwind Ijtima, where Junaid started crying before Maulana Tariq Jameel.

“He cried so much that that tears started running down his face and beard. He then said, Maulana, you don’t know what you saved me from, you don’t know…. I won’t be able to repay you,” said the scholar.

The second instance was when during a pilgrimage to Makkah, Junaid saw a JJ (his clothing brand) banner on a building in Azizia.

“Tears filled his eyes and he said God made me so lucky that today I am able to see my name in this holy land…. my name once used to ring outside pubs,” reminisced Tariq Jameel.

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane carrying 47 people crashed Wednesday and burst into flames killing everyone on board.

Singer-turned-preacher Junaid Jamshed was aboard the ill-fated craft with his wife.
