Justice Syeda Tahir Safdar becomes the first woman Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Quetta: Born in Quetta on 5th October 1957 Justice Syeda Tahir Safdar makes history by becoming the first woman ever to become a Chief Justice in Pakistan.
On 22nd April, 1982 Justice Tahira Safdar passed her Civil Service examinations and became the first woman civil judge in Balochistan. In 1994 she became the District and Session judge, on 7th September 2009 Additional Judge Balochistan High court
Her appointment as the 19th Chief Justice of the Baluchistan High court has set an unprecedented benchmark for women across Pakistan pursuing law as their career, especially in Balochistan.
Speaking to ARY News, female lawyers said, “This is the first time a woman has become Chief Justice seeing which we feel very motivated and want to work hard now.”
“A female coming in this profession and reaching this position is something we feel very proud of especially looking at the scenario of Balochistan where women are hardly allowed to leave their houses.”
Currently Justice Tahira Safdar she is a member of the three-judge special court which is conducting the trial of former president Pervez Musharraf.
