Kaabil – first Indian movie releases in Pakistan after lifting of ban

KARACHI: The ban on Indian movies in Pakistan practically ended with release of Hrithik Roshan’s latest flick Kaabil in cinema houses across the country, ARY News reported on Thursday.
The thriller flick — which stars Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam — was released in Karachi’s Atrium Cinemas on Wednesday night.
The film is expected to draw huge crowds and cinemas are likely to be house-full for the next couple of days.
The film’s plot circles around a blind man out for vengeance for his wife’s murder.
The Indian actor reacted on the film’s release in Karachi and tweeted, “Kaabil just released in Karachi tonite. India gave it so much love. Hope it gets the same love from Pakistan as well.”

Kaabil is the first Indian film to be shown in Pakistani cinemas after the Uri attack in Kashmir.
Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) had imposed a ban on Pakistani artists for working in Indian films, in the aftermath of the attack, till bilateral ties turn to normal.
Cinema owners in Pakistan, in response, refused to screen Indian pictures in movie houses.
Pakistan and India are at loggerheads since Indian government, without any evidence, blamed Pakistan for the attack on its military base in Uri sector in Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 17 Indian soldiers.
