CHICAGO: Following Kamala Harris’s nomination as the Presidential Candidate, a wave of excitement has swept through the women of the United States. This sentiment was palpable at the Democratic National Convention’s closing event at the United Center in Chicago, where a diverse array of women eagerly listened to Harris’s speech.

The convention was adorned with passionate slogans and vibrant displays of unity across different races and nationalities. Amidst this fervor, “Vote Run Lead Action,” an organization supporting women candidates, hosted a luncheon. Elected women in attendance hailed Harris’s nomination as a pivotal moment in history, offering hope for the election of the first female president in the United States.

“She is the right candidate at the right time in this country. She has done the work. She has inspired other women and other candidates to really see the possibility in this country. It’s not about division. It’s about someone who reflects the values of this country,” remarked Sabrina Shulman of “Vote Run Lead Action.”

Discussing key issues, Shulman emphasized, “Access to healthcare, reproductive health care, abortion in particular, touches everybody’s life in this country”

Erin Vilardi, also representing “Vote Run Lead Action,” highlighted Kamala Harris’s alignment with women’s issues, stating, “Her agenda is a woman’s agenda. She understands that reproductive freedom is not just an issue for women, but truly for all families.”

Reflecting on current challenges, Vilardi expressed concern over recent legal setbacks affecting women’s rights, commenting, “Women in this country just had a major right taken away to have sort of the control of our own bodies.”

Vilardi offered a message of empowerment to young women, urging them, “You are enough right now… dig into the experiences that you’ve had, the challenges that you’ve overcome, and see them through the lens of leadership.”

“Vote Run Lead Action,” committed to intersectional feminism, advocates for equality and parity for women, especially women of color, recognizing their unique perspectives and leadership potential.

The nomination of Kamala Harris has sparked a renewed sense of hope and determination among women across America, eager to see their concerns and aspirations represented at the highest levels of government.
