Karachi high-profile cases: CJP holds meeting with LEAs officials

Amid deteriorating law and order situation in the city, the chief justice sought details on the measures taken by the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and police so far in both the cases.

Justice Jamali has shown distress over the poor performance of police in restoring peace in Karachi, and said had they taken prompt measures before, the situation in the metropolis would have been better now.

Director General Sindh Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar also attended the meeting at the Supreme Court registry office in Karachi.

Justice Jamali also directed officials in the meeting to beef up their surveillance and security networks across the city.

Chief Secretary Sindh, Inspector General Sindh Police, A.D. Khawaja and Additional Inspector General Sindh, Mushtaq Khawaja were few of the participants in the meeting.

Members of the team probing Owais Shah’s abduction case were also present including Karachi South Zone Deputy inspector general (DIG), Munir Ahmed Shaikh, DIG Crime Investigation Department (CID), Sultan Khawaja and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Farooq Awan.

The chief justice of Pakistan was briefed in detail about the latest developments in the case of Owais Shah and overall security scenario in Karachi.
