Karachi ranked as the sixth worst city in the world: report

The Global Liveability Ranking which ranks the best and worst cities in the world to live provides scores out of 100 for lifestyle in 140 cities around the world. It looks at the best and worst living conditions and takes into account healthcare, education, infrastructure, safety, and the threat of terrorism.
The report states that more cities are now beset with growing threats of terrorism, civil unrest, and increasing geopolitical tensions. It found that many cities in Western Europe have fallen due to the attacks in Paris and Brussels. Even many cities in the US failed due to the unrest over the death of black people in police custody.
“Violent acts of terrorism have been reported in many countries, including Turkey, Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, France, Belgium and the US. This has been a year undoubtedly marked by terrorism,” the report said.
The more peaceful countries such as Australia and Canada were seen as having the most top-ranked cities, with Melbourne coming first and Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary all making the top 10. Vienna in Austria is the highest-placed European city which was ranked second.
The Syrian capital Damascus is the lowest-ranked city with a rating of just 30.2 out of 100, scoring poorly in all categories due to the ongoing ruinous civil war.
The report said that Karachi had one of the lowest scores for stability and for culture and environment. However, a modest score for education at 66.7 helped keep it from topping the worst cities to live ranking.
