Karachi remains calm after raids on MQM offices

The life has been normal in the port city as public transport is plying on roads, schools and offices have been opened after attack of the activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on the office of ARY News at Madina City Mall and ransacking the media office.

The educational institutions in the city are opened and the parents have sent their children to schools and colleges without fear.
The attack on Monday evening sparked tensions across the metropolis as the Rangers and other law enforcement agencies moved to arrest the culprits involved in brazen attack on the media on Monday evening. The party workers ransacked the television channel’s office and harassed the employees.

The workers of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) hoisted the Pakistan flag at Mukka Chowk and sang patriotic songs. They also chanted Pakistan Zindabad slogans.
Special security measures have been adapted at sensitive areas of the metropolis whereas contingents of Police and Rangers have been deployed on roads and different parts of the provincial capital.
Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah had chaired a law and order meeting in which he ordered Director General Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar and Inspector General Sindh A.D. Khawaja to ensure safety of people’s life and property.
He said no one will be allowed chant anti-Pakistan slogans.
The chief minister also stated that the government will not allow anyone to made the citizens hostage and deteriorate the law and order situation in Karachi.

The para-military troops carried out a raid at MQM Headquarters nine-zero in Azizabad on Monday night and arrested party workers.
A number of party leaders including Dr. Farooq Sattar, Dr. Amir Liaquat, Arshad Vohra and Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan have been arrested in raids across the city.
