A young politician who rose to prominence during Musharraf-era, Kashmala Tariq joined active politics as a student at Punjab University as an activist in the youth division of Pakistan Peoples Party, Peoples Students Federation (1993-95) and became the president of PPP Youth in Punjab province.
Kashmala entered mainstream politics and joined Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam during Musharraf-era.
She was elected member of the National Assembly from the platform of PML-Q in 2002. She was re-elected to the National Assembly in 2008.
Kashmala was an active parliamentarian and member of three National Assembly Standing Committees of: Local Government, Commerce and Trade, and Finance and Revenue. She also serves as PML-Q’s Secretary Information

Kashmala Tariq was appointed as the federal ombudsperson on “protection against harassment of women at workplace” this February.
She has an LLM Degree in Corporate and Commercial laws with distinction from the London School of Economics. She speaks Urdu, English, French and Punjabi.
