A long time MQM loyalist, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui joined All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation (APMSO) in the year 1982 and soon became a member of the student union’s central committee till the organization became a political party.
During the 1992 operation against MQM, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui moved to US and remained there till the year 2013.
As he returned to the country in 2013, he contested elections from NA-219 constituency of Hyderabad and emerged as a victor. Last year, Siddiqui had to leave country after he was diagnosed with cancer.

As MQM announced to part ways with founder Altaf Hussain after his incendiary speech on August 22, 2016, Siddiqui became a part of MQM-Pakistan under the leadership of Farooq Sattar.
Earlier this year, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and a number of other leaders formed a separate faction of MQM-P after differences Dr Sattar after he refused to take back the name of his favoured candidate Kamran Tessori on priority for the March 3 Senate elections.
The party split into two groups — one led by Dr Sattar and the other by Siddiqui himself.
