A PML-N loyalist, Khawaja Muhammad Asif was sworn in as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan on August 04, 2017.
A native of Sialkot, Minister Asif is a veteran politician and a lawmaker of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N). He was elected as a Member National Assembly (MNA) for his fifth term in general elections of 2013 from NA-110 constituency.
Between 2013 to July 2017, he held portfolios of Federal Minister for Water and Power and Minister of Defence.

A businessman and a banker by profession, Mr. Asif earned B.A/L.L.B degrees from University of the Punjab. He was a Senator for the term of 1991-1993. During 1997-1999, he held the portfolio of Chairman Privatisation Commission with the status of a Federal Minister. He also served as Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources with an additional charge of Minister for Sports.
