ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah was oblivious of the contemporary trends of agricultural economics, ARY News reported.

This he said in reaction to Khursheed Shah’s comment ridiculing Prime Minister Imran Khan’s suggestion to masses for breeding poultry and selling eggs to alleviate poverty from Pakistan.

Fawad Chaudhry said those who had looted national wealth neither deserved a fowl nor an egg, they only merited lentils of prison.

“Those who had been involved in embezzlement of public exchequer are pained of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s agenda,” he said.

He said the senior PPP leader and his party had considered public funds as the goose that laid the golden eggs. He asked that how long the Sindh’s ruling party would conceal its corruption behind former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who, he said, made Pakistan a nuclear power, while Mr Shah and his current leadership laid foundation of graft.

Earlier in a statement, Imran Khan himself responded to critics, mocking his proposal of poverty alleviation by boosting poultry business.

Using his Twitter handle, the prime minister shared founder of Microsoft Corporation Bill Gates’ article titles ‘Bill Gates explains why chickens are the ultimate solution to poverty’ and said in his tweet, “For the colonised minds, when  ‘desis’ talk about chickens combating poverty they get mocked, but when ‘walaitis’ talk about desi chicken and poverty it’s brilliance!”

The premier while addressing a ceremony to mark 100 days of his government’s rule on Thursday (November 29), had said the government will provide eggs and chickens to women living in the rural areas, so they can start their own poultry business.
