Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt bans Naswar, cigarette in educational institutes

PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to launch crackdown against Naswar and cigarette in educational institutions across the province, ARY News reported.

The KP Education Department has directed the educational institutes to regularly monitor canteens and tuck shops in their premises.

According to a notification issued by the secretary KP Education Department, in the anti-Naswar and cigarette drive, vigilance of canteens of schools and colleges will also be done to make the ban effective.

“Packets of sugary drinks and other eatables will also be strictly checked. Plus, counselling sessions will be held for the students in this regard to make them realise about hazards of Naswar and cigarettes,” it read.

Naswar (snuff or quid in English) is a moist, powdered tobacco snuff consumed mostly in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Iran.
