Kinza's father forced to sign affidavit denying torture claims

RAWALPINDI: Muhammad Bashir, the father of 11-year-old child housemaid Kinza, who was allegedly subjected to physical torture by her employers in Rawalpindi, is learnt to have signed an affidavit under duress, denying that her daughter was tortured.
The latest case of physical torture on a juvenile maid came to light after videos showing the minor girl, Kinza, with bruises on her face and arms began doing rounds on social media.
Kinza was allegedly tortured by her employers Ammara Riaz, a major in the Pakistan army and her husband Mohsin, who is a doctor, at their residence in Wilayat Colony Scheme III Chakala.
Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari lately posted on her Twitter account an affidavit, saying: “Unfortunately when the poor parents of young girls like Kenza come under pressure, they give affidavits like the one given by Kenza’s father stating that she was injured due to falling from the gate of the house.”

The minister said: “We have to ensure that such tactics do not prevent doing an indep[endent] medical examination and registering an FIR. The professional typing of the Affidavit is notable!”
Earlier, taking notice of the incident, she said: “A police team has been sent to Sumandri to bring back the child and her parents. After Medical examination an FiR will be registered. Army has also been informed as the suspect is an Army doctor. We are keeping a close eye to ensure justice for the little girl.”
