LEAs nab 12 suspects during overnight raids in Karachi

KARACHI: Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) arrested 12 suspects and killed another in an alleged encounter during overnight raids on Saturday at different parts of the metropolis, ARY News reported.

According to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), a raid was carried out near Saddam Chowk in Saeedabad area on intelligence tip-off about presence of miscreants in the area. Sensing arrival of CTD personnel, the suspects opened fire on the raiding team and in retaliatory firing one of the suspects killed while another managed to flee from the spot after taking advantage of darkness.

CTD also recovered weapon from possession of the slain suspect. However, no further details were shared pertaining to his identification.

Separately, Rangers arrested two suspects affiliated with a militant wing of a political party during house-to-house search operation of a residential building on Rashid Minhas road.

In another raid, police arrested 10 illegal petro-products dealers in Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan.

On the other hand, a dead body was recovered on late Saturday night here in Surjani Town. According to rescue sources, the body was three-day old and shifted to a morgue for identification.

Additionally, two people sustain bullet injuries during separate firing incidents on late Saturday night in two different localities of the city.

A man was injured while offering resistance during a robbery bid in Cantt Bazaar at Drigh road, sources said. A woman was injured during a random firing incident near Dawood Chowrangi, Landhi, rescue officers told media. However, the identification of the injured could not be ascertained.
