LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday adjourned hearing into a plea filed by Khawaja brothers for a bail, in Paragon Housing Society scandal till April 1.

A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court took up the bail plea of incarcerated former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique.

Khawaja brothers in their bail plea have stated that the NAB nominated them in the case without having any concrete evidence against them.

They said they had extended full cooperation to the accountability watchdog during investigation and provided all documents to prove that they had not link to the Paragon City Society.

The applicants said they were being punished by the corruption watchdog on political grounds.

The court was pleaded to pass on orders of their bail in the scandal.

Further hearing into the bail plea was adjourned by the honourable court till April 1.

Paragon Housing Society scandal

NAB had launched an investigation into the alleged scam in November last year after a number of victims staged protests and held a press conference at the Lahore Press Club against the fraud committed by the housing society.

Last year, the anti-graft authority arrested former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general Ahad Khan Cheema and others over allegations of corruption in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Society scam.

During that investigation, it was revealed that Cheema had misused his authority and received huge sums of money in return for awarding the contract of the project to Casa Developers.
