LHC hears Maryam Nawaz appointment case

The petitioners during the hearing of the case by LHC single bench comprises of Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, pleaded that Maryam Nawaz has been appointed on political grounds on a key post without caring about the merit.

Government counsel in his arguments said that the prime minister has exercised his discretionary powers in appointment of Maryam Nawaz on an honorary post, for which the rules not required to be followed. Moreover, Maryam Nawaz was not empowered to distribute the loan scheme funds, he said.

The government counsel also produced academic testimonials of Maryam Nawaz downloaded from Internet.

The court urged for appointments on merit and said that if the government would not revise its decision the court will give its ruling in the case.
