Lindsay Lohan’s message sparks rumours of conversion to Islam

Actress Lindsay Lohan has shocked millions of followers when she deleted all her posts on social media, and left the “Alaikum salam” greeting on Instagram sparking rumors that she may have already converted to Islam.

The “Mean Girls” star has already said that she has chosen Dubai as her base and taken to educate herself on Middle Eastern culture.

She also plans to volunteer at refugee camps in Turkey and set up her own production company in the UAE. Last month the actress told CNN Abu Dhabi she had fallen in love with the region.

“I’ve met amazing women [here] that are really strong and have taught me a lot … I don’t think people realise how accepted it is for a woman to be a strong woman in the UAE. It is a very appreciated thing,” Lohan said.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Lohan said she was “very excited for what the new year holds”. Her new management team said the actress is currently “in a period of renewal”.

Lohan has been very vocal about her interest in Islam ever since she was photographed walking the streets of New York with a Holy Quran in her hands. She revealed while she befriended a lot of people who were Saudi while she was staying in London and one of them gave her the Quran.

Lohan also received a lot of hate from her fellow Americans because of this. “I was so happy to leave [America] and go back to London after that, because I felt so unsafe in my own country,” she said.

“If this [Islam] is something that I want to learn, this is my own will.”

However, she still maintained that the Quran has helped her learn more about herself. “It opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning,” Lohan said during a Turkish TV channel interview.

She told The Sun newspaper that she was very spiritual and was open to learning as a way to satisfy her intellectual curiosity.

While Lohan has yet to deny or confirm the rumors, many Muslims from all over the world are sending their congratulations to the former Disney child star via social media.

Lohan spoke exclusively to Express UK about deleting every single photograph on Instagram. “It was symbolic to me of letting the past go and moving on to the future which was very therapeutic. It’s been a long time coming.”

She went on to say that social media plays far too much role in people’s everyday lives nowadays and that it can definitely be “negative” with her celebrity status because she is “too connected” to everyone.

She added that there was no exact moment when she decided to take a break from the online world, but there comes a time our life when we stop and reflect on all the experiences we have had.

“For me it happened when I turned 30 and realised there is more in giving back in life – that is what will make you truly happy.”
