Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb rules out early elections

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the next general elections will be held on time.

Talking to the media persons in Islamabad on Saturday, she ruled out the possibility of early polls.

She said passing of a constitutional amendment for the delimitation of constituencies reflects that democratic process is gaining the strength in the country.

Responding to a question, the Minister termed as baseless the rumours about the resignation of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

She said the Finance Minister took forward the economy as per the vision of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

She said the economic situation is far better today as compared to the situation in 2013. She said foreign investors’ confidence has restored on the country’s economy.

About the sit-in on Faizabad interchange, the Information Minister said the government desires peaceful resolution of the matter. She said we believe in freedom of expression but this should be exercised with responsibility.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said it is the result of government’s efforts that overall law and order situation stands improved.
