Pakistan offers media cooperation to Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has offered Afghanistan to work towards devising a Bilateral Engagement Strategy on media cooperation today (Thursday) in efforts to bridge mutual trust deficit, ARY News reported.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on the occasion: “Regular media exchanges between Pakistan and Afghanistan can help dispel negative perception about each other for a more productive relationship.

The Minister was involved in the high-level meeting that took place earlier in the day between The Prime Minister Imran Khan and visiting Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at the PM House.

The SAPM said Pakistan would be pleased to share its entertainment and film material, dubbed into Pashto and Darri languages with Afghanistan so that the locals could understand them better.

The Minister expressed great intent towards the implementation of the idea which was seriously deliberated upon by the Afghan President.

In a one-on-one meeting beforehand, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani deliberated on the regional situation of security and peace.

The Afghan president arrived in Pakistan earlier today for a two-day visit on the invitation of Prime Minister Khan.

The two leaders exchanged views about the ongoing scenario of the region at the Prime Minister House.

Prior to meeting PM Khan, Ghani met Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and lauded Pakistan’s efforts for the peace process in Afghanistan.
