Meet super centenarian Violet Brown, the oldest person in world

A 117-year-old Jamaican woman has earned the title of the oldest person in the world. 

Violet Brown, born in March 1900, is believed to be the world’s oldest person.

Super centenarian Violet Brown credits her ‘hard work’ for her long life. Following the death of Emma Morana of Italy – born November 29, 1889 – she is believed to have become the world’s oldest living person.

Revealing secret of her long life, she once told a hometown newspaper that hard work, devotion to the Baptist church and respect for family, life and people in general have helped her live a long and happy life.

She attended church regularly, avoids pork and chicken, and celebrated her 117th birthday last month.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness of Jamaica visited her at home and presented her PM’s appreciation medal.

Jamaica’s Prime Minister congratulated Ms Brown on Twitter, but Guinness said it was still researching a number of candidates to confirm the new world’s oldest person title, adding that the process was sometimes unusually complex due to poor records.

“The world’s oldest human is Jamaican Violet Brown, who was born on March 10, 1900. Congrats Violet,” he wrote.
